Storage specialists Lista are delighted to have been recently involved with providing a very effective solution at the award winning Museum of Childhood in London.

Part of the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Museum of Childhood at Bethnal Green houses a world famous collection of dolls items, games, puppets, toys, children’s costume and furniture. To complement the displays, the Museum also houses the leading reference library of its kind, and this is where Lista have provided their practical expertise on this occasion.

With over 3000 important books of various shapes and sizes, and a steadily increasing stock of periodicals, the crucial need was to replace the main, somewhat rigid wooden shelving system with a more flexible and modern steel design.

The Lista remedy is their M10 Shelf Storage Wall, a truly modular concept which allows for any permutation of fittings and dimensions adapted to specific needs – whilst always providing maximum utilization of available space. In this instance, a system of standard, open shelving units has been installed. Of these, the majority are allocated to the books, and the remainder are set up separately for the periodicals, with the shelves simply varied as appropriate –as they easily can be at any time in the future –and each bay measures 1225mm wide x 330mm deep.

Nina Rogers at the Museum is delighted with the overall Lista input "I was impressed by their obvious expertise and the clarity of their proposals. I looked at every company in the market and Lista provided the ideal combination of technical help and the right products. The new system actually takes up less space than the previous units, and it is easier to work with. We are highly likely to need more storage in the future, and it will be reassuring to be able to blend with what we now have. The collection of books here is invaluable and we now have the best means to look after them".
